Description

L’Illustration Original 1928 "Unic" Automobile Advertisement.
This original
"Unic Automobiles"
advertisement is from the December 1928 edition of
L'Illustration
magazine. The image of the company's models flying out of the factory is very arresting, and typically french. The date appears in the upper left-hand margin.
Unic
French automobile manufacturer founded in 1905, and active as an automobile producer until July, 1938.
The ad measures 11.5" x 16" (29.21cm x 40.64cm) and the image itself is 10.5" x 13.75" (26.67cm x 34.92cm)
This 92 year-old advertisement is in
EXCELLENT
condition with no creases, folds, tears, or discoloring. There is slight rippling along the top and bottom edges that would easily be covered when matted or framed. The print is strong and the contrast is great.
L'Illustration
was a weekly illustrated news periodical first published in 1843, and ran until 1944. After the end of World War II, a successor magazine, "France Illustration," ran from 1945 until 1957.
L'Illustration
was noted for its large size, beautiful photography, cutting-edge advertising, and special "Noel" editions which featured full-color art prints tipped in on decorative papers.
This beautiful advertisement is ready for framing and would be a welcomed addition to any collection of automobile advertising ephemera, or it would make a very unique gift.
For shipping, the ad will be packaged in an acid-free clear poly bag and shipped
FLAT
in a firm cardboard mailing envelope.
